Multi-purpose light duty narrow crown staples for outdoor applications.
18 gauge 1/4 crown stainless steel staples are ideal for outdoor projects with ACQ pressure treated lumber, cedar, redwood, and acidic or oil-based exotic woods. However, these may also be used for cabinets, casebacks, drawers, apiaries, upholstery, spring attachment, insulative sheathing, underlayment, soffits, molding, trim, lattice, hardwood floors, and teak outdoor furniture.
So when do you use 316 grade over 304 grade 18 gauge stainless steel staples?
Answer: Location, location, location.
What is the geographic location of the project? It makes a big difference.
304 Grade stainless steel narrow crown staples are best suited for typical outdoor applications to avoid nail corrosion and discoloration. ACQ-treated lumber, redwood, cedar, and acidic or oil-based exotic woods.
316 Grade stainless steel narrow crown staples are best suited for tropical, seaside, salt water contact applications, or any project near large bodies of water. Recommended for all outdoor applications with ACQ-treated lumber, redwood, cedar, and acidic or oil-based exotic woods where Marine Grade fasteners are needed to avoid unsightly stains, streaks, corrosion and discoloration.
