Staple guns are important tools for a variety of tasks for home or commercial projects. Loading staples into your staple gun is essential to ensure you get the job done correctly and safely.

But it is important to remember that how to load a staple gun will depend on factors like tool compatibility and brands. This blog will review the necessary steps to load your staple gun correctly and effectively.

How to Load a Staple Gun?

Most of the time, this depends on the manufacturer and how it is made, but the bottom, top, and rear are the most known ways. Your staple gun will typically be designed to load staples in only 1 of these 3 possible ways. Keep in mind that when loading your staple gun, always unplug connected air hoses and/or power cords to avoid serious injury.

- The most popular way to load your staple gun is through rear loading. Pull the spring lever back to open the magazine channel and then slide the clip of staples in from the back. Push the staple clip all the way forward into the nose chamber. Once loaded, release the spring lever to restore the tension to the magazine.

- Bottom-loading. means placing the staple clip in the empty space on the bottom of the magazine. For this type of load, you will need to pull the latch back, which will open up the bottom of the magazine, turn the chamber towards you, and then drop the staples into the empty space in the magazine. Once loaded, push the latch back to restore the tension to the magazine. This is commonly used for upholstery projects and lighter gauge staples like 22 or 20.

- There is another way, called top load. Pull the spring lever back to open up a tray at the top, where you put the staples. Once loaded, release the spring lever to restore the tension to the magazine

Remember to be clear about how to load your staple gun correctly. If you don't load it correctly, your tool can break or even cause accidents due to misfiring.

Does the Brand and Model Affect the Way I Load My Staple Gun?

The brand and model are important in selecting the ideal staple for your specific staple gun. As mentioned, there are typically three ways to load the staples in the staple gun; keep in mind that it will depend on how it is manufactured.

If you are wondering how to load a Bostitch staple gun, a Stanley, or an arrow staple gun, you must look at the model to ensure you know how to load it correctly. Arrow staple guns, for example, usually require a rear load as they may have a pop-out mechanism.
