Our B16 series 16 gauge brad nails are universally compatible with pretty much every 16 gauge straight finish nailer in the market. There are three grades of corrosion resistance available with this 16 gauge nail including Electro Galvanized, 304 Grade Stainless Steel, and 316 Grade Stainless Steel:
Electro Galvanized 16 gauge nails are best suited for interior trim applications and light exterior outdoor projects where corrosion is not a concern. Electro Galvanization finish nails provide a very thin layer of zinc coating with a measure of protection against the elements. Overtime 16 gauge galvanized finish nails may corrode with prolonged exposure to the elements. Not recommended for ACQ Treated Lumber.
304 Grade Stainless Steel 16 gauge nails are best suited for typical outdoor applications to avoid nail corrosion and discoloration. ACQ-treated lumber, redwood, cedar, and acidic or oil-based exotic woods.
316 Grade Stainless Steel 16 gauge finishing nails are best suited for tropical, seaside, salt water contact applications, or any project near large bodies of water. Recommended for all outdoor applications with ACQ-treated lumber, redwood, cedar, and acidic or oil-based exotic woods where Marine Grade fasteners are needed to avoid unsightly stains, streaks, corrosion, and discoloration.
16 gauge brad nails are used primarily for finish carpentry and trim woodworking DIY or commercial projects, including furniture, door and window casings, moulding, upholstery trim panels, and picture frames. Choose the right size for the job—from 3/4" to 2-1/2" straight nails. You can also purchase our variety pack if you need several sizes but not a lot of stock. We also have case quantities available for the professional trim carpenter.
To avoid your 16 gauge nail rusting resulting in unsightly discoloration in outdoor applications, we recommend our 16 gauge straight stainless steel nails. 16 gauge finishing nails in stainless steel are also suitable for woodwork involving ACQ-treated lumber, cedar, redwood, and acidic or oil-based exotic woods. For applications likely to come into contact with salt water or near large bodies of water, our 316-grade stainless steel nails should be used. These marine-grade nails are capable of withstanding more extreme environments.
For more delicate woodworking projects, we also carry 18 gauge brad nails as well as micro pins. Feel free to consult with our experts here in FastenerUSA for any assistance on choosing the right nail for your project.
