Box Nails are great for General Purpose applications

Box nails - like a common nail but with a thinner shank and head. These nails can be used in general purpose nailing or framing projects including Wood Shingles, Siding, Permanent Wood Foundations, Decking applications.

If you're looking for the typical "Nail" then you found them. Box nails are among the most widely used type in the building industry. Currently we have two types of shanks available, Smooth shank (a.k.a. plain) and Ring shank (a.k.a. annular thread) Smooth shank is what you expect from a standard nail providing decent holding power. Ring shank nails, on the other hand, dramatically increase holding power. Ring shank has threaded rings that are cut into the shank of the nail helping it grip the wood fibers as it's being driven. Ring shank is much less likely to back-out over time.

Our Box Nails are available in four grades of corrosion resistance including Electro Galvanized, Hot Dipped Galvanized, 304 Grade Stainless Steel, and 316 Grade Stainless Steel:

Electro Galvanized is best suited for enclosed applications and light exterior outdoor projects where corrosion is not a concern. Electro Galvanization provides a very thin layer of zinc coating with a measure of protection against the elements. Over time these nails may corrode with prolonged exposure to the elements. Not recommended for ACQ Treated Lumber.

Hot Dip Galvanized are literally dipped into Molten Zinc until a thick uniform coating is achieved across the entire surface of the nail. Hot Dip Galvanized is the highest level of zinc galvanization available. Meets the minimum requirement for ACQ Treated Lumber but is Not Recommended. For ACQ Treated lumber we recommend Stainless Steel.

304 Grade Stainless Steel is best suited for typical outdoor applications to avoid nail corrosion and discoloration. ACQ-treated lumber, redwood, cedar, and acidic or oil-based exotic woods.

316 Grade Stainless Steel is best suited for tropical, seaside, salt water contact applications, or any project near large bodies of water. Recommended for all outdoor applications with ACQ-treated lumber, redwood, cedar, and acidic or oil-based exotic woods where Marine Grade fasteners are needed to avoid unsightly stains, streaks, corrosion and discoloration.
